shadcn blocks: 1,556 indexed blocks, free preview and Pro code

EneUI indexes 1,556 blocks from 28 registries. The preview is free, the code is Pro. Here is how the catalogue works and why the gate sits on the server.

Key points

  • 1,556 blocks from 28 registries, not just from one vendor catalogue.
  • The preview stays free; the code is protected server-side and requires Pro.
  • Every block declares source, files, dependencies and category: check before you install.

A shadcn block is not an isolated component: it is a composed section, such as a hero, a pricing table, a dashboard or a footer, published as a registry:block. That is the level where a page takes shape, which is also why it is the easiest place to copy code you do not understand.

EneUI indexes 1,556 blocks from 28 registries today. The /blocks page lists them with a preview of the section type, filters by category and source, and a detail page with two tabs: Preview and Code.

What is inside /blocks

The catalogue does not invent a block: it reads the publisher's manifest. For each record it keeps name, title, description, categories, dependencies, registry dependencies and the file list. The preview is a reconstruction of the section type when the publisher does not expose a live page.

Why 28 registries change the comparison

A single-vendor catalogue shows only what that vendor sells. A cross-registry index shows the duplicates: the same hero-01 can exist in five registries with different files, licences and dependencies. The useful question is not «which block is best?», it is «which version is right for my project?».

EneUI keeps the source and the licence of every record. If a block does not convince you, you do not have to change catalogue: open the page, read the files and compare.

Free preview, Pro code: where the line sits

The preview is always visible. The code is not: the Code tab calls a server-side endpoint. A free request gets 402 and no files. With Pro, the server resolves the publisher's registry item, caches it privately and returns the source.

How to pick a block without copying blind

  • Open the preview: does the section answer the problem, or is it just pretty?
  • Read the dependencies: how much new code enters the project?
  • Check the licence: can you use the block in your product?
  • Look at the files: is a 12-file block a section or an app?
  • Try the mobile version before installing: most blocks are drawn for desktop only.

The 5-minute test

Pick one hero, one pricing and one footer block. Open the three pages and compare files and dependencies. If the three blocks use three different spacing systems, you do not have a catalogue, you have three separate projects. Better to start from one section and adapt it.

Frequently asked questions

Are shadcn blocks free?

The preview on EneUI is free. The block code is Pro: a free request gets 402 from the server and no files.

How many blocks are there on EneUI?

1,556 blocks from 28 registries, measured on 31 October 2026.

Can I install a block with the shadcn CLI?

Yes, when the publisher exposes a registry item. The block page shows source and dependencies; the command depends on the publisher's registry.

Is the preview a screenshot?

When the publisher exposes a public preview, EneUI embeds it. Otherwise it shows a wireframe of the section type declared in the manifest, without passing it off as a screenshot.

Why is the code paid?

A block is a composed section, often with many files. The preview stays free for discovery; the source is the product that justifies the Pro plan.
