A website in Genoa: one address, the whole metropolitan city

In Genoa the province is a metropolitan city, so one address has to cover many comuni. How to structure service areas with schema and without duplicate pages.

A website for a Genoa business has to answer a question that rarely comes up elsewhere: there is one address, and the area served is the metropolitan city. With 558,745 residents (2023) the comune is the base, not the edge of the market, and the page structure has to reflect that.

Population 558,745 residents, year 2023, read from Wikidata Q1449 on 1 November 2026. Province: Città metropolitana di Genova. Region: Liguria. These are the only local figures on the page; the rest comes from the catalogue and from national ranges.

One address, several comuni: what to duplicate

ApproachWhen it worksRisk
One page per service area, with different contentThe business works in several comuni with different servicesCopied text: the engine treats it as a duplicate
One page listing every areaThere are many areas and the service is identicalThe list answers no specific search
Single address and areaServed in the schemaYou have one address and no page per zoneStructured data alone creates no pages
No page per zoneThe business serves one neighbourhood onlyYou lose searches that name the next comune

The practical rule: one page per area only when you have something different to say, meaning travel times, a named contact, a warehouse or opening hours. If the content is the same, the extra page is damage, not a multiplier.

LocalBusiness: what to declare

The LocalBusiness JSON-LD block accepts address for the base, areaServed for the zones covered, geo for coordinates, openingHoursSpecification for hours. The address stays single: areaServed is a list of names or City objects, not a second address. Declaring an area you do not serve is false data, and it shows sooner or later.

The catalogue figures

The EneUI catalogue holds 111,985 components from 1,472 libraries, plus 1,556 blocks and 12,808 icons, measured on 1 November 2026. This structure needs three categories: 33 contact blocks, 45 footer blocks and 35 stat blocks, the last one if you want to show timings and coverage with a number instead of an adjective.

curl -s "https://ui.eneawork.it/api/blocks/category/contact?limit=200" | jq '.category.count'

Three records worth a look

The contact category holds 33 blocks and each one is a form, not a contact page: address, hours and map are yours to write. Contact 01 from Shadcn UI Blocks is the minimal form. For the list of service areas, Table 01 from blocks is a table with accordion, useful once the zones pass six. None of the records declares a licence: the field says «see source».

The limitation to put in writing

The catalogue holds no maps, no geographic data and no system for managing zones: areaServed is one line of JSON-LD you write by hand. The blocks are React and Tailwind, they do not install on a CMS as they are, and the full code needs the Pro part.

National costs, no Genoa price

The ranges we publish are national: five to ten pages between €1,500 and €4,000, a single page between €400 and €1,200, CMS maintenance between €300 and €1,200 a year. Adding a page per comune pushes the bill up, because each page wants its own copy. The full picture is in what a website costs.

For the linking structure read internal linking strategy; for the structured data how to add schema markup. The comparison between bases is in how to choose a template, and to stay out of nothing getting a site indexed by Google.

Frequently asked questions

How many pages does the metropolitan city of Genoa need?

One per area only when the content genuinely changes: timings, contact, warehouse, hours. With an identical service everywhere, a single page listing the areas plus LocalBusiness schema works better.

What goes into areaServed?

The names of the zones covered, as strings or as City objects. It is not a second address and it creates no pages: it is information that travels with the base address and has to stay true.

One page per comune or a single page?

A single page if the text would be identical, because cloned pages compete with each other. One per comune only when service, timings or contact change, and then the copy has to be written for that zone.

How many residents does Genoa have?

558,745 residents in 2023, read from Wikidata Q1449 on 1 November 2026, in the Città metropolitana di Genova, Liguria. The figure covers the comune, not the whole province.

Does the catalogue have blocks for maps or service areas?

No: there are 33 contact blocks, 45 footer blocks and 35 stat blocks, but no map block and no geographic data. A map comes from an external service and areaServed is written by hand in the JSON-LD.
